Autumn Service Day
We invite you to Do More and Serve With Us.

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
256 Freeport Street – Dorchester
October 21st | 11 am – 2 pm

Autumn Service Day is a family-friendly three-hour event where we come together to do meaningful work, supporting those in need. The day will include hands-on service activities, food, and live music while learning the importance of serving our community. By working together to address the needs of our communities we have a direct impact on those who we share our neighborhoods. Additionally, your investment of time will allow you to learn how volunteering can create a ripple effect on communities, in turn, creating positive change for populations in need.

Our campaign invites people of all ages and abilities to get excited about volunteerism. We hope to not only influence your attitude but equip you with the tools and opportunities to act through our Foundation-led initiatives. Community engagement shows its effects over time, not overnight. When we work to better our communities, we better our future.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The day will include 3 shifts of hands-on service activities. You will be assigned to a team and will rotate through 3 service stations while learning about our partnering organizations and the populations that they serve. At each service station, your group will be split to cover the activities available.

Station 1: Assemble essential items into literacy bags for elementary school children as part of the Foundation’s Initiative to advance our values of sportsmanship, inclusion, kindness, and Peace through reading.

Station 2: Assemble hygiene kits with Hope and Comfort Inc.; Make fleece blankets for homeless shelters.

Station 3: Make Sleeping Mats for the Homeless with ‘Plarn’ made from plastic shopping bags; Assemble winter kits for those that are homeless; Create handmade, reusable bags with Boomerang Bags Boston.

During your service at Station 3 your team will have the opportunity to submit your Drawing that symbolizes ‘what peace means to you’ in our holiday art contest, grab a snack and use the restroom.

Help us to address food insecurity. Bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Foodbank 4 U program at BSU. Most need items are granola bars, peanut butter, hearty soups, canned beans, almond milk, macaroni and cheese.

Each volunteer age 12+ should register individually. Children under 12 must be accompanied by and supervised by an adult throughout the event.

There are no shifts available at this time.
